LGBT+ History Month

The recently formed WGHS LGBT+ Society has been meeting  in the library each Friday lunchtime. The formation of the society has handily coincided with LGBT+ History month, so the students have been working on a display which we have put up in the library to signpost our LGBT+ fiction collection. Come and have a browse!

More information on LGBT+ History month is available here: http://lgbthistorymonth.org.uk/ or on twitter @LGBTHM.

We have some more graphic novels for you to borrow. We will be shadowing the Excelsior Award in the new year, so get some practice in before the shortlist is announced! The award looks at 8 (as yet unannounced) graphic novels from the previous year and a group of students will be invited to read them all and decide which one is the overall winner. If you think you might be interested in taking part, email me at jlees@wghs.org.uk.

Christmas has landed in the library – the ‘interesting’ tree has been put up, along with a display of festive-related books (The Poems of Robert Frost may be taking the link a bit too far, but hey!). Pop in and borrow some books to read over the holidays!

Miss Fraser has kindly donated a number of Russian books to the library. Aimed at children, they are the perfect level for anyone wanting to practice the basics and learn some new words, plus the illustrations are very cute! We also have various books on Russian language and history, so pop into the library and check them out!

Scholastic Book Fair

bookfairstuff

It’s that time of year again when we have the Scholastic Book Fair in the library! There are loads of titles to choose from, some from as little as £2.99. As well as books, there is lots of lovely stationery and some awesome posters.

We’re also running a secondhand book sale, with paperbacks at 20p and hardbacks at 50p. Bargain!

Come along during Rec and Lunch until Wednesday next week. Every purchase you make from the Book Fair earns reward points that we can spend on shiny new library books!
